About Us

CYBER INTELLIGENCE AND SECURITY AID BUREAU – CISAB

Promoting Vigilance for Safer Societies

The Cyber Intelligence and Security Aid Bureau (CISAB) was founded out of real experiences and real vulnerabilities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, rising human crime, cybercrime and exploitation in Ghana exposed critical gaps in how individuals and communities understood and responded to security risks.

Who We Are

Our Story & Foundation

CISAB emerged from lived experiences during a period of uncertainty, where personal encounters with crime highlighted the urgent need for practical security awareness and support.

The Cyber Intelligence and Security Aid Bureau (CISAB) was established in response to a clear and growing need for improved security awareness and protection within communities. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic and the nationwide lockdowns that followed, Ghana experienced a noticeable rise in human crime, cybercrime and other criminal activities. This period exposed vulnerabilities across society.

Even our own co-founders, despite their strong backgrounds in internet safety and security, were affected. One co-founder became a victim of a romance scam, while another narrowly avoided financial loss during an online transaction. These incidents underscored an important reality: if individuals with security expertise could be affected, the wider public, many of whom had limited knowledge of security risks, faced an even greater level of exposure.

In response, the co-founders began providing security education through virtual means. With in-person engagement restricted, a co-founder's Facebook page was used as a dedicated platform to share timely and practical safety information. This initiative quickly gained relevance during the uncertainty of the pandemic, supporting friends, colleagues and communities with guidance on both human and cyber safety.

Recognising the long-term significance of this work, CISAB was formally registered in 2021 with the Registrar General's Department under the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General. Since its formation, CISAB has remained an independent, apolitical and neutral organisation committed to advancing security, peace and safety across society.

The organisation initially relied on self-funding and later received support from partners such as the Global Cyber Alliance (GCA) in the United States, which provided toolkits that strengthened CISAB's awareness efforts.

CISAB is driven by the belief that crime in any form must be addressed proactively. Whether related to human security, cyber incidents, serious or organised crime, transnational activity or emerging threats, we remain committed to contributing to solutions that protect communities and reduce risks.

Our work extends beyond traditional security interventions and reflects a broader commitment to safeguarding the well-being of society. We actively pursue lawful partnerships, collaborations and initiatives that promote safety and contribute to the prevention and reduction of crime.

Guided by our motto, "Promoting Vigilance for Safer Societies," and inspired by our slogan, "For The Love of Security," CISAB continues to strengthen communities through education, partnerships and the empowerment of individuals.
